North West businesses blaze a trail to become even better!

Two businesses from the North-West are taking part in our Better Business Programme.

Macclesfield-based Matmi New Media (www.matmi.com), winner of the inaugural British Business Boost competition, as well as many digital industry awards, is a pioneer in online branded entertainment. Even with their huge success, founder and MD Jeff Coghlan recognised he still needs to invest in developing himself as the leader of his business to fulfill the company’s potential.

Jeff says, “The Better Business Programme is helping me do what the MD of a growing business should be doing – it’s enabling me to work ON the business, rather than IN the business all the time, so that I can lead Matmi to become one of the top international players in the digital media industry. The effect of the programme so far has been dramatic and hugely positive.â€

Altrincham-based Farrat Isolevel (www.farrat.com) is a leading player in the manufacture and supply of vibration control engineering and machine mounting methods. Founded in 1959, the day-to-day running of the company has recently been handed over to brothers Andrew and Oliver Farrell who decided to participate in the Better Business Programme to gain clarity over their vision for the next generation of the family business.

Oliver says “Inheriting the leadership of Farrat from our father is a huge responsibility. Andrew and I wanted to make sure we had a really robust strategy and plan for the business, as well as developing our own leadership and management capabilities so that we are confident we will implement it. The Better Business Programme ticked all those boxes and the experience so far has been challenging as well as supportive. We’re looking forward to building an even better business in the future.â€

As a result, for the first time, we’re bringing our FREE Better Business Workshop to the North West. At the event, on 30 March at 6.30pm at The Marriott Hotel, Manchester Airport, ambitious owner managers can:

  • Learn about the Seven Pillars of a Better Business - the seven characteristics of owner managers whose businesses consistently perform better and based on observations of working with over 600 of the UK’s most successful owner managers
  • Have a free 1-1 coaching session to help with their specific challenges and opportunities
  • Network with other owner managers and find out how they’ve overcome similar challenges.

One owner manager who came along to a similar event recently said, “Just that one session with you was a real revelation and has improved our business enormously!â€

Places can be reserved at www.yourbusinessyourfuture.co.uk/briefings or by calling Amy Holt on 08456 838 818.

Jeff Coghlan of Matmi says: “We’re proud to be based in the North West, the biggest economic hub outside of London, and it gives us the advantages of having access to a skilled workforce and international logistics. It’s great for the region that Your Business Your Future are bringing their Better Business Workshop to the North West so owner managers here can find out for themselves whether the programme could help them make similarly dramatic and positive changes in their businesses as I have in mine.â€

Your Business Your Future founder and MD, Gerard Burke said: “Owner managers are the unsung heroes of the UK economy.  At Your Business Your Future, we’re passionate about helping ambitious owner managers create a different and better future for their businesses and for themselves, which in turn creates jobs, enhances local communities and ultimately transforms the economy.

“All our programmes are designed specifically to support ambitious owner managers through the different stages of development of their businesses with a particular focus on ensuring that every participant achieves a fantastic return on their investment. We’re looking forward to meeting ambitious owner managers in the North West and helping them create the future they want for their businesses and themselves.â€
