The challenges of growing a business – Gerard quoted in the FT

Many owner managers have the ambition to grow their business.  This ambition, and the scale of it, can vary during the lifetime of the business and the owner manager themselves.  At some point, all of us owner managers are likely to hanker after some growth.

Business growth is also vitally important to the overall economy since, as is well known, in any developed economy, the majority of new jobs are created by a small number of smaller fast growing businesses.

And yet, growing a business continues to present significant challenges for the vast majority of us.

So, I was delighted to be quoted in a feature on the challenges of growth in the Financial Times on 3 November 2012   You can read the article at http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/5ccd15bc-121d-11e2-bbfd-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2BjWZcVL9 or, a fuller version of my thoughts can be found in another blog “Business growth – are you a tortoise or a hare?”
